A Parallel Process: working as a trainee counsellor in student counselling
Jo Myddleton and Jacqueline Glynn
This presentation will consider the impact of being a trainee counsellor whilst on a student counselling placement. We propose that the experience of being a student on a clinical training at the same time as working with students results in a “parallel process”. We shall discuss organisational dynamics alongside themes of identity, adolescence, independence/dependency, emotional aspects of learning and empathy
with the mirrored-student experience.
